Water Prenure is a project dedicated to providing a reliable and consistent water supply to farmers and homes. With a kickstart cost of R100,000, the project is equipped with all the necessary tools to harvest and supply up to 10,000 litres of water per day. This includes 5 x 5000L tanks, gutters for harvesting, water valves, taps, and a hippo roller to supply water to farmers and homes. By extending the growing period of connected gardens to at least 9 months, the project enables farmers to maximise their yield and generate a sustainable source of livelihood.
Phase 1: Assessment and Planning – The Water Prenure Project will begin by conducting an assessment of the water needs of local micro farmers and identifying potential areas where water harvesting and supply systems can be implemented. A detailed plan will then be developed, outlining the required resources, budget, and timeline for the project.
Phase 2: Training and Support – Micro farmers and other community members will be trained on how to properly maintain and utilise the water supply system, ensuring its long-term sustainability and impact.
Phase 3: Monitoring and Evaluation – Regular monitoring and evaluation of the water supply system can help identify any challenges and ensure its continued success.
Phase 4: Expansion and Scaling – Once the initial water supply system has been implemented and evaluated, the project can be scaled up to reach more micro farmers and communities in need of reliable and consistent water supply. This will require additional resources and coordination with local stakeholders.
