BLACK SOLDIER FLY FARM INFORMATION

Ucan Grow offers four different levels of enterprise development for Black Soldier Fly Farming.

The first level is Alchemy, which serves as a trial run and allows farmers to gain experience with breeding and rearing black soldier fly larvae to produce protein-rich feed. This level helps farmers to identify and troubleshoot any potential issues that may arise in the process.

The second level is the Starter Pack enterprise, which is self-subsidised and includes equipment to breed and rear black soldier fly larvae, and produce protein-rich feed for animals or for use as a raw material. This level allows farmers to start producing small quantities of feed or raw materials.

The third level is the Micro Franchise, which provides a business box at a cost of R49,950, which includes resources to manufacture black soldier fly larvae on a micro-scale and produce protein-rich feed or raw materials for local use or sale. This level offers an opportunity for entrepreneurs to start a small-scale business and create employment opportunities.

Lastly, the Boza level is the macro, commercial enterprise that can cost up to R250,000+. At this level, farmers can expand their operation and invest in large-scale black soldier fly farming equipment to produce protein-rich feed or raw materials for commercial purposes. This level offers an opportunity for farmers to establish themselves as a key player in the sustainable agriculture sector and contribute to reducing waste and greenhouse gas emissions.
